Costume Wigs Are Fun to Wear!
Some people do not do much when it comes to picking out a costume. They just pick something basic, and put it on. This is rather discouraging, because the entire point of wearing a costume is to transform into another character. Thus, to add a little extra something to any costume, a person is going to need a costume wig.
Costume Wigs Have a Long History
Indeed, people not only used to wear costume wigs for special occasions, but wigs in general were a daily part of life – especially for European aristocracy. Costume wigs were meant to cover up thinning hair most notably.
Nowadays, costume wigs are just for fun, and there are many choices when it comes to that as well. In general, there are specific wigs for specific outfits. For example, if a man wanted to go as George Washington, he would choose the standard ponytail wig from the 1700s.
Another popular era that inspires many costume wigs for both men and women are the 1980s. Of course, many men love to dress up as rock stars, and as such the wigs they choose include ones with a punk rock look. Also, the comical mullet works for both men and women who want an 80s look.
When it comes to women, there are many different wigs that they can choose from, depending on the time period of their costume. For example, if a woman wants to be Lady Godiva or Rapunzel, she will need a very long wig.
If a woman wants to be something from the Renaissance, she has the option of wearing along wig, or a wig that has a decorative bun. Additionally, the decorative bun look is ideal if a woman is getting a costume from the Victorian era.
As time went on, hairstyles changed, and so it comes as no surprise that wig styles changed as well. The woman who chooses to go as a flapper from the 1920s, for example, will need to get a short, bobbed wig.
For more information on wigs, all you have to do is go to your local costume shop. It should be noted that wigs often come in different sizes, so you might have to try on a couple of them before you find one that fits comfortably. Also, if you are wearing a wig over long hair, you might need a cap to place over your real hair, so that the wig looks as realistic as possible.

I can trace my obsession with vampires back to 1987 when I saw The Lost Boys for the first time (the first of many, many times). Years later, there was “Buffy”, then “Angel”, and later “Moonlight” on television.
I’ve always preferred entertainment with bite.
While I have to admit that the sequel, Lost Boys: The Tribe, was terrible, I [...]
